Strangewaves Music & Arts Festival presents:

Not the Wind, Not the Flag

After 8 years of dropping jaws and setting minds ablaze, Canada’s bravest, most versatile and stimulating duo is releasing its first vinyl LP.
Vermillion: “display[s] the duo’s long-form, improvisational approach, similar to the sustained intensity of free jazz but with a harder edge that pushes it towards a heavier sound more often associated with psychedelic rock. Think the mystical pastorals of Alice Coltrane and the cerebral explorations of Ornette Coleman, but deployed using the avant-garde guitar stylings of Robert Fripp and the acidic cacophony of Comets On Fire.” (Pleasance Records)

Hamilton’s purveyors of majestic mysticism are the ideal complement to NTW, NTF. They’re incredibly prolific players, exploding with talent and vibrancy, while never sitting still – making every set a thoughtful exploration through the ether of their worlds.

It’s been a long summer without them in our lives. The dynamic three-headed dragon returns for a very special performance, which could very likely be their last one for awhile. Don’t miss your chance to fall under the spell of Hamilton’s three most talented ladies’ shadowy folk.

Trevor Turple

Since he brought his gifts to Toronto, there’s been a noticeable void in the 905 (and 519). For one night that cavernous void shall be filled. The balmy soul of everyone’s favourite feeler will keep autumn’s chill at bay.

$5 – all dollars to artists.
