Peter Walker/Colin Fisher/Sarah Good Band
Strangewaves is so very proud to present:
PETER WALKER (NY, Vanguard/Light in the Attic/Tompkins Square)
“Peter Walker is an American folk guitarist noted for dynamic instrumental pieces inspired by the Indian Raga and Spanish flamenco traditions blended with traditional American folk and occasional rock influences. Walker’s debut LP Rainy Day Raga was released by Vanguard Records in 1966, followed by the release of Second Poem in 1968. Along with Sandy Bull, John Fahey, and Robbie Basho, Walker is considered one of the premier guitarists of his generation. On Second Poem, Walker plays guitar and sitar and is accompanied by flutist Jim Pepper (of The Free Spirits) along with violin, tabla, & tamboura. Walker is the missing link between Ravi Shankar and Timothy Leary in more ways than one…..” (Light in the Attic)
The bona fide virtuoso keeps surprising listeners across Southern Ontario and beyond. Over the past two decades, Colin has wowed us with his hands and mouth, all in many incarnations – Not the Wind, Not the Flag, I Have Eaten The City, Bernice, Caribou Vibration Ensemble, among many others. Colin is one of the greatest modern musicians this country has to offer and it is incredibly exciting to have him return in a solo capacity to Strangebarn. Keep your eyes locked for a new Colin Fisher solo tape coming this spring!
